hello there,
when i had to replace the gauges in my 90 9k.... after trying to upgrade them to white faced gauges and ruining them... :)
i realized that you can't used gauges from earlier 9000's because they aren't compatible.
The 90's were probably specific to themselves, being a weird model year.
Um... i really couldn't tell you what the elecrical measurements of the gauges and the output signals are supposed to be... but if i were you i would buy a new gaugae cluster... or find one from a junkyard.
I've never heard of a speedo gauge just dying on it's own... although there IS a little motor that is spinning the odometer that's all on prt of the same circuit, and i suppose if the motor died it would mess things up...
try switching the cluster out with one you think works... from another 90...
I actually might have one to sell you although its 2 hours from my house, plus i'd have to pull it from the car it's in, so don't count on me... not to mention it's turbo...
um...
yeah switching the gauges would be a faster, cheaper, easier test than trying to test the signal output...
good luck
