...just cleaning it may not be enough to resurrect it if it is electrically malfunctioning.
I would suggest trying another one, new or if you can borrow one.
If you have the air conditioner disconnected, and the belt included... the engine is compensating for the air compressor "strain" that it would normally have on it, however it is not there since you have removed the belt...
...so... the engine thinks it's only increasing it's idle speed a little to help with the strain of the compressor, but since it is met with no resistance... it speeds up a lot...
...this seems to me the most likely problem...
however the AIC is supposed to help the ECU monitor the idle speed.... so the ECU knows that it has set the correct speed...
um... if the AIC isn't sending the correct signals... the ECU is blind so to speak i think when the ACC system comes on...
try another AIC... if the problem persists... then try reconnecting the A/C belt... maybe...
i'm not the best person to ask about this... but this is what i would do.
i'm not convinved that disconencting the A/C belt would produce that much more power... especially since it works with an electronic clutch...
if you wanted to harness the extra 5-10 horsepower from the engine not having to spin the a/c compressor... you would just simply turn the acc on off or econ... and disengage the electronic clutch on the compressor...
...right?
you could go the route of replacing the computers... and replacing the acc unit... but i would try the simple stuff first you know?
one thing you could do if you're convinced that your AIC is fine... is...
disconnect the battery completely and let it sit overnight to reset the comptuters... this may cure your idle problem as well... it's very simple, and free, and it works!
