Multiple New DI Failures Possible??

After reading several posts about the wisdom of having a spare DI onhand I purchased a "new" one from FCP Groton on Ebay for my 1998 CSE w/102k miles, thinking that I would make the original DI a spare. The first one started throwing code P0300 (multiple misfires) but no apparent drivability problems. Groton sent a replacement with no question. The second one started throwing P0340 and P0303 within two weeks and the car bucks badly under throttle. New NGKs gapped to .097. Both times a return to my old DI cleared everything up. Is it possible to have two infant mortalities with new DI?? Possible that these are really rebuilds?? Groton seems reputable and is refunding.
