We just went through this drill last weekend when we replaced the headliner on our 1994 9000 Aero. To lower the B pillar covers you need to remove the plastic front and rear door sill plates. The rear sill plate is held in place by four torx screws and the front plate is held by three torx screws. Keep in mind that one of the screws, on each plate, is underneath the access panel (remove with a small screwdriver) marked "Saab" in the center of each place. After you remove the sill plates, then remove the two torx screws at the bottom of the B pillar cover. You can then pull down on the cover in order to release its grip on the headliner.
