http://www.quasimotors.com for a lot of detail and info on whhat to look for. And when you start looking, drive a bunch of cars. There are big differences between cars, mostly from how well they were maintained.
Get maintenance records if you can, but if you've done a restore you know the difference between a car that's been cared for or not. One of mine had records, one didn't. Both are fine.
There are various potential trouble spots, but most aren't bad, and once dealt with become non-issues. Look for a '96 and later as they seem to be better sorted. The '93 year was an oddball so it is a bit harder to deal with for some things. Generally good to stay away from a model with TCS (traction control).
People (including quasimotors) will tell you the automatics are trouble, but many here have had no real issues. The autobox in my '95 is at 145K with minimal maintenance and works fine.
If well maintained these cars can easily crack 200K miles and more. You have to be procative on maintenance, but once you get any trouble spots fixed 9Ks tend to run well and very reliably.
Since you don't DIY find yourself a good Saab specialist indy who knows the cars.
Let us know what you find and come here for help in the hunt and to keep it running.
