You should not normally need a "pickle fork" ball joint separator to remove the ball joint. Remove the side bolt that holds the top part of the ball joint, and normally the joint will come right out. Pull the side bolt all the way out because there is a groove in the cylinder that keeps located in the steering knuckle. Tap the top of tghe cylinder if you have any problems, or move the bottom control arm with a crow bar to help separate it from the knuckle. At the bottom, (3) 8mm bolts hold the ball joint to the lower control arm. Take out those bolts and slide out the joint.
