If the light on the keyfob doesn't light up when you press the button, the battery is dead. Simply replace the battery, and then near the car (when the central locking gets fixed), press the button three times. The remote doesn't receive anything from the car - it only transmits. So that light should come on even if the car is miles away when you press the button.
There is one fuse that controls the central locking and dome light. That's your one and only 'two problems for the cause of one.' It's pretty common for that fuse to blow out if any of the lock actuators are getting sticky. I can't remember exactly which fuse it is, but look for Central Locking in the fusebox.
As to the right headlight - first - have you checked the fuse (in the fusebox in the engine compartment) the headlights have individual fuses. Next, is the bulb blown?
Sometimes multiple problems are really just multiple separate problems. Don't assume cause and effect on everything.
