First of all, thanks you Ari for you great insight into my problems.

I checked all hoses and the wastegate and found nothing. This lead me to the only other thing I had changed - the Boost Control Solenoid.

Tonight I thought I'd try the cleaning method for the solenoid that I had read about. I took my old "broken" solenoid and cleaned it with WD40. After installing it in the car, I took the car for a test drive and found the I could not hit boost cut off - but I couldn't hit the red either. It would boost the just before the red/yellow dashes. After having driven the car for the last month with full red boost, this just didn't cut it. I then cleaned the new solenoid and found the cause of the over-boost.

The C (top) port in the solenoid was clogged, I could not blow any WD40 through it from either side. After wasting the better part of my WD40, I put the new solenoid back in the car. The boost cut off came back, but only when I really really pushed the car. The car was faster at 3/4 throttle with full red boost than with full throttle and red/yellow boost.

So to finish this up, I found the solution to my problem, but it wasn't what I was looking for. Now I need to know: what/how much damage can boosting in the red cause; and same question for hitting boost cut off? Am I loosen 20k miles of life for each time the over-boost hits for example?
