AM Radio fix (long)

After years of dealing with poor AM radio reception in my 96 9000 CS, I finally fixed the problem. I had replaced the antenna years ago with a fixed mast and had attached a ground wire to the antenna cable shielding which seemed to help temporarily. However, about a year ago when removing the radio to check grounds on it, it became clear that the problem was the antenna cable, because I could push and pull on it sideways and change the reception. I actually left the radio partially extended out of its mount so that I could "adjust" the reception on the fly. So last week I ordered a 12 foot cable and installed it 2 nights ago. AM reception is now good. Installation was easy (but you might need a longer cable if you still have the original antenna). I ran the cable under the trim panel under the left side doors and under the steering column to the console. Total time was about 45 minutes.
