With frequent oil changes, the water-cooled turbo will last a very long time. It's the bearings that fail. You can pop the intake hose off the turbo and grab the shaft to feel for play -both radial (side to side) and axial (in and out). It should feel pretty tight radially. When you spin it with your fingers it should spin free and smooth. If that describes your turbo, it should be fine for another 100K.
By the way, I did get your email on the bolt issue, but saw that others had answered the question on the BB.
