Trouble replacing coolant hoses on '92 2.3 turbo Posted by DietrichOS [Email] (#430) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DietrichOS) on Thu, 24 Aug 2006 08:25:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I got quoted a ridiculous amount of money to fix the leaking hoses in my '92 9000 turbo, so I decided to do it myself. I got the two suspect hoses off, one that goes from the overflow tank to the water pump, and another from the water pump to the bottom of the radiator. I'm still waiting for that first one to come in, but I'm having trouble getting the water pump/radiator hose on. I cut little notches on the end of it, but it almost seems that the hose is too small for the fittings, even though they said it was the right one at the autoparts store. I can get the old hose over the fittings no problem, but is that just because it is old and sretched out? Should I get the new hose wet or put some sort of grease on it to get it to fit? In case you can't tell, I'm definately an amature mechanic, but since I have another Saab to drive around while I do this, I decided it was a good idea. I'm just replacing a couple of hoses here, I can't be in too far over my head, can I?
