I've been getting distortion noises from the left front dash speaker(s) on my 1996 Aero with the HK system. I took out the three Torx screws and had a peek at what is underneath. The 4" woofer looks angled back towards the windshield, while the tweeter is angled forwards towards the driver. Neat.
So methinks I might replace the front speakers as the woofer was getting a little crumbly looking. However, while the woofer appeared to be bolted down with maybe 10mm bolts, the tops of the two diagonally-mounted attachment points for the tweeter were perfectly smooth. Are those rivets or some sort of push connector like all the other trim bits in the car? How do I get it out?
I also broke my alarm LED by accident, one of the leads snapped off. Drat. It looks like it might be socketed, though. Off to Radio Shack...
Thanks in advance for any insight,
-John
