As debris is likely to cause your problem, release the flexible hose (located on top of the gearbox) and blow compressed air through the hole of the bleeder valve in the slave cylinder. With a bit of luck the chunck(s) of debris will come out. With the hose released, check whether brake fluid can pass freely through the master cylinder. This will tell you whether the obstruction is at the side of the master or the slave cylinder. The hose itself can also cause problems: it may be leaking or swollen inside. Do NOT blow back all the way to the master cylinder, this may cause debris to enter the brake fluid reservoir and get into the braking system which may be dangerous.
Otherwise, try bleeding the system with the bleeder valve completely removed. Put some rags in the bell housing to absorb the spilled brake fluid. Debris may come out more easily this way. Make sure to keep the brake fluid away from the clutch. It may be a little messy in there, but what is that compared to removing the gearbox?
Good luck!
Mat
