FYI - Ericksson On Transmission Pump Whine

After my 2nd flush, filter change I decided to call Ericksson and get their input on the whine from my autobox on my just purchased 97 Aero. He said this is very common. The ground from the transmission to the frame goes bad. With a bad ground when you turn the ignition there is an arc over the bushing in the tranny pump which causes the bushing to go bad which allows play in the gears in the pump which starts the metal wear which gives the whine. You can buy the pump for $150 plus a few misc parts and whatever labor costs. Eventually the pump will go and tear up other parts. New trannys are $2100 plus shipping and local labor or DIY. At 112k I need to decide which is beneficial long term. I would assume labor is going to be the same since you have to drop the transmission in both cases. Other than the whine the tranny performs fine in what appears to be a well maintained car. Anybody have thougts. Checking the transmission ground will be on my preventive maintenance list going forward...just need to find it.
