Or, you can just whack the threaded end of the tie rod ball joint from the bottom, since you are going to replace it anyway.
If you want to avoid having to align the car, loosen the tie rod adjustment lock nut, then just snug it back and tape it so it doesn't move. Whack the ball joint loose and unscrew the tie rod end without disturbing the lock nut. Then check to make sure the new tie rod end is exactly the same legnth as the old, if not, adjust for the difference in legnth with the lock nut.
If the tie rods are exactly the same, then just screw the new one in till it just snugs up to the locknut.
