RADIO CODE PROBLEM SOLVED - I THINK

My '94 Aero's radio/CD had gotten so bad that I had to input the code each time I started the car. Recently it started not taking the code at all, that is until it was left on and beeping for over an hour. In frustration, I followed a hunch, and I rewired the radio so that it is live all the time. It's easyto do, as all that has to be done is to pull the radio's chassis (after you pull the radio), and apply the constant 12 volts from pin 1, of the 10 pin connector, to pin 4 (12 volts switched from ignition) of the same connector. I also cut the pin 4 wire going back to the ignition, as I didn't want a bunch of circuits, that I wasn't aware of, being live all the time.
The radio worked properly all day yesterday, and turned right on after sitting all night. The added value is that the radio can now be played anytime and anywhere, even with the doors open. I would normally wait a few days before posting (the car is Saab), but I was so excited and I wanted to share with others who've got the same frustrating problem.
I will post again if the fails.
Good luck and happy listening.
