Some have seen this post in various threads of mine, but someone asked me today to repost it...One post today asked how you move the front seat to remove it if the power was gone, was there a special tool?
This post really brings back Memories; I had this problem at a UPULLIT yard back in August 2006 on a 100 degree day.
At 4 PM they unloaded a SAAB 9000 from a wrecker. I looked inside and I couldnt believe it! Relaltively new SELMO Seats with a strong whiff of Leather. The price schedule at the UPULL IT was fixed, so I only had to pay 80 for them,; the problem was the yard was closing in 50 minutes and I knew two other groups were planning to come back the next morning to get them since they had no Torx head sockets. Since I work for a living, and kind of have a work ethic, I couldnt exactly call in Sick because I wanted to get the seats at 7 am; also I have seen a few Junkyard confrontations over valuable parts that don't exactly end up like moot court at Harvard Law School and i didnt want one
Luckily I had Torx sockets! I waited until the onlookers left, making their plans for the morning..
It was 4:22 PM
Unfortunately the seats were retracted backwards and covered the bolt heads. Boy I was sweating bullets--no electricity in the car, no battery, for some reason all the fuses and forward wiring had been yanked anyway when they took out the engine. I was even thinking of hacksawing the seats off of the frame...
I thought what a shame,I really wanted these seats badly--Suddenly I had a brainstorm--- My solution was to run to my car and get my battery. Remember it was a 100 degrees and very humid, Even though I run a lot, like 2 miles a day , I was tired and BEAT. After I ran back with the battery, I hooked it to the power connector at the back of the seat, think it was red and green, got the seats to move. It was like 4:57 PM. I was turning nuts like crazy and got my hands mangled...my ADRENALINE was pumping...got a little bloody ..I felt no pain...
Irony was I never put the seats in, ( have a family to raise) they are in my Guest Room..maybe I will make a couch out of them
