Hi all,
Checked the vaccuum lines and they're fine. Still have the original problem. Any advice? Does anyone know ANYBODY in Houston or the surrounding area that's qualified to work on older SAABs? The dealer doesn't have the books and the only other guy in town doesn't specialize in SAABs enough.
Here's the original posting:
So guess what: my TCS light is on and my 1992 9000T (with 150k) is in somewhat limp-home mode. Super.
Here's what happened:
At first, the car wouldn't start at all, so the import specialist who I took it to put in a new fuel filter, but told me to take it somewhere else as he didn't want to mess with it any more.
When I got it back, the TCS light was on, the idle was low, it took a lot of pedal to accelerate, no A/C (which sucks here in Houston), and it doesn't want to go into 4th gear.
SO, I took it to the dealer in town who got the codes off of it. Unfortunately, the mechanic did NOT have the books to reference the codes (he said they never deal with cars that old!) and did not write the code down. He did, however, say that the code's subject said +30 pin missing. I referenced this online and it seems to relate to the shield for the left front wheel sensor. I also found out what the voltage and resistance readings SHOULD be (.1 - .5 volts AC at 1 rpm and resistance between pin 30 and 48 should be 1100 ohms).
All of this seems to relate to a previous poster's question about wheel sensors (see link) in which he was advised to check the resistance. Like him, I can accelerate to any speed... but I'm worried because every time the car shifts gears, the whole car lurches forward.
My question is this: if I test the resistance and it's not correct, how can I change it to the right resistance? Can the pin be replaced? How would that be done? Is the problem somewhere else altogether?
This is a great resource, by the way.
Thanks,
Aubrey Foard
