Wow, on my laptop she sounds like an Allison V12. :) However, I think what you are hearing is either the A/C compressor clutch or the belt tensioning pulley getting ready to self destruct.
You didn't specify what model year you have so:
1. Turn on the A/C, set the temp to freezout. THis will engage the clutch and if you are hearing the clutch bearing chattering, it should go away.
Or, if you have a dedicated belt for the a/c compressor remove it.
2. Remove the right wheel arch so you can get up close and personal with the tension adjuster. get a cardboard tube that you can place up to you ear and attempt to pinpoint the noise without getting caught up in the belt. Turn off the car and feel the individual component sheaves. If one feels warmer that the others that may be the problem child. If the location is undeterminable-
3. Remove the serp belt and start her up- ONLY for a short time! YOU have no cooling now. If the noise goes away, it is either the Water Pump, Alternator, or Power Steering or A/c compressor- grab the sheaves and spin and try to find any axial play.
Good luck,
K
