'95 to '98 is a safe bet Posted by turrbo [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: just sold my 9-5 what is good year for 9000?, bdorgle, Mon, 2 Oct 2006 19:08:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you search, you'll find horror stories about the transmission, but I'm a firm believer that if the tranny is serviced properly, it's as good as most autos. I have 150k miles on mine with some minor mods and it runs fine.
If it has had proper servicing, it'll be ok. I have it flushed every 10k miles. The first thing you want to do is have it flushed when you buy it.
Other than that, a '95-'98 will be the most reliable. '96 brings on OBD2, not that it really matters much. There are some normal problem areas on the 9k, but there are on pretty much every car. Budget at least $1k for repairs and maintenance after you purchase the car.
If you get a CS model, you can make it FPT easily and the car will have a little less wear on it.
Good luck! You'll like the 9000 better than the 9-5.
