valve guide seal, blue smoke, & Bars Leak Smoke-away

Thought this may help someone. My 93 CSE, which will reach 250,000 miles this week, has for the last 10,000 miles suffered from a leaking valve guide seal (cylinder #3). After sitting for awhile, the oil would pool up in the cylinder, and upon startup cause a large plume of blue smoke for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, the smoke would be much less noticable.
Someone on this board pointed out that Gunk and the like made fortunes selling oil additives to help old time cars control valve guide seal leaks. I added Bars Leak "Smoke-Away" to the car's motor oil, at twice the recommended dosage, then did the same ~1000 miles later.
Blue smoke is very much dimished, enough so that I can be in heavy stop and go traffic and not draw any attention at all (no visible blue smoke, only a faint smell). The diesel trucks smell far, far worse. This will keep me going until I get my new-to-me 1995 CSE on the road, which may take a month or two given all the other things that want my time.
Meanwhile the 93 CSE drives just great, still very strong and fast.
