but there are guides and a tensioner that can wear. Is the chain actually noisy? They last a very long time, and I think it's more usual to wait for some other problem - such as a failed head gasket - before changing anything. On non-turbo cars these items should probably last longer, assuming proper maintenance.
There is a procedure for replacing the chain in situ but it does assume the guides are in good condition. Link below!
