A few years ago, someone reported repairing their ABS sensor by cutting the wire and splicing in a new section of cable. I don't remember any long term follow up as to the reliability of the repair, so it could of worked a week, a season, or years.
I have not looked at it closely, but I think that the wiring is shielded (a metal braid around the wires) which is difficult to splice and maintain the integrity of the shield. Plus there is the whole issue of the harsh environment the cable opererates in that caused it to fail in the first place. If you think about it, you have temperature extremes, salt spray, constant and severe flexing due to suspension travel, surface abrasion due to rubbing and rocks kicked up from the road, and low and high frequency vibration. There are not many repair joints that can stand up to that kind of treatment.
