this may or may not apply, but here goes. Number one son spilled soda, a 44 oz, into the key area on one of the 900's. cleaned all up and all ok. until car wasn't started (ie key not turned in ignition) for over a month. then it wouldn't even register that the key was in the ignition (no annoying buzzzing sounds). We did the boiling water in the ignition, no help, we did the WD-40 in the ignition, no help, we did the Electronics parts cleaner spray in the ignition, no help. So we closed everything up and went in the house to fix something else. The next morning the key actually moved! Grudgingly, but moved. Then it turned. Then it turned all the way. Successive rotations of the key and it got better and better until it was as new. I have no idea which method, or what combination of methods, worked. But it seems that giveing it time to work in was required.
