Drive car after Pedal stuck to floor?

On Friday the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. This happened near my house and I managed to get home, with the pedal sticking a couple of more times.
I diagnosed it as a possible bad slave cylinder.
On Sunday, I was able to drive around the block a few times. The clutch did not stick to the floor.
I intend to replace the slave cylinder on my Thanksgiving break. In the meantime, how much can I drive the car?
If the slave is going, why does the hydraulic system still work?
Will periodic clutch bleeding allow me to drive short distances or should I just leave the car in the driveway until I do the work on it? I assume the clutch pedal stuck to the floor because of air getting in the system through a faulty slave seal. Is that assumption correct? Does bleeding out the air regularly let me drive the car?
Thanks for any advice.
