The biggest difference you might feel is tighter steering, which can make both cornering and straightline tracking more precise. I replaced mine due to cracked boots and didn't feel much of a difference. My steering isn’t as tight as it used to be and given that the tie rods and ball joints are fairly new, I suspect it must either be the rack or inner tie rod, neither of which I have much interest in tackling.
Unless you’re very careful, you’ll need an alignment after replacing the tie rods. Perhaps you could wait until you need new tires anyway then replace the tie rods and ball joints, get new tires, and get an alignment.
