Intermittent Starting Problem 1994 9000CDE w/ Auto Tran Posted by Devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Devin) on Mon, 13 Nov 2006 10:53:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When the car is warm, after driving for 20 minutes or so, it will periodically not start after parking to run an errand. There is a click but the engine will not turn over. There is plenty of power to light the dashboard and the voltmeter reads from 10.0 to 11.5 volts when this occurs. I have replaced the battery and the starter. If I wait for a period of three hours or so the car will start. I can always get it to start immediately by jumpstarting it. All of the cables are tight at the battery and at the starter. I have tried by-passing the negative by hooking up the negative at the battery to the engine block via jumper cables and this does not help. Only time and jumpstarting have gotten the car to start. Any Ideas???
