I also traced it to the ECU. I think there are some old posts from me. I have four bad 92-94 ECUs, including one just sent from Sobstory (guaranteed). I bought a supposedly rebuilt one from a place in Florida, but it it didn't work at all until, like your experience, the car warmed up. Fortunately, they took it back. Another, I bought at a local junk yard a year ago for $50. It worked fine until the 90 day warranty ran out, then became increasingly intermittent and hardly ever works anymore. I would try to track down the problem, which must be common, but it's difficult and dangerous to diagnose with the car jacked up and running. I think the problem is not a bad solder joint (they all woulodn't do it) and very likely to be something like purple plague within one of the custom ICs.
Please let me know which older Saabs use the unit that works. If i get one at a junkyard tomorrow morning and get the connector as well, I can envision building an adaptor using one of the bad units. If you have on
