alternator issue Posted by dan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I had an alternator go out on my '96 CSE and tried a new regulator as it acted as such, but that didnt' fix it. I was told at the rebuild joint that the stater had given up the ghost. I then bought a new (rebuilt) Bosch unit and put it in. The car started right up, run great and idled for about 20 minutes in my driveway before I decided to take it for a spin around town and pick some things up at the store. 10 minutes later, my battery light is on again and the alternator is giving my nothing. This is the way the first one went bad as well...just all of a sudden. Is there anything, save for trying to fire the thing up with a dead battery, that could cause an alternator to burn up so quickly? the Battery is fine so I'm stumped. The Alternator is warranteed but I dont' want to keep doing this. Any thoughts.
Thanks folks.
