Some excess inside wear on the rear tires is normal on cars with solid axles. Normally this is not a problem if you rotate the tires regularly. On the other hand if the axle is bent in the least such wear can be really excessive. When I bought my 98 CSE used it chewed through new rear tires in less than 4000 miles. Upon examination it was obvious that the axle was bent, most likely from being towed via the axle. In my case I found it easier to put in an axel from a salvage yard rather than have it straightened.
