OK, I have just completed replacement of new timing/balance components (eeuroparts) which included new head/exhaust/intake gaskets and valve seals for my 91 9000 turbo. This stems from a timing chain failure at 175k miles. Ironically, the sprockets were in excellent condition, only the lower guides showed wear. The balance chain was fine, except of course the lower sprocket was worn to almost nothing.

This failure cause minor bending of 2 exhaust valves. 4 other intake valves were also replaced because of small marks on piston crowns, but were not noticeably bent.

Anyway, timing is set correct and the engine cranks over smoothly. I'm pretty sure I am getting fuel because I can smell a bit of fuel after cranking. I will probably check for wet plugs to be sure.

A key indicator is that there is no RPMs on the tac when cranking, indicating possibly a bad CPS. However, I think that might not be it because I replaced it just a couple years back. The DI cassette is about 80k miles old, but I also don't think that is it because it was working fine before and shows no signs of leakage/cracking and plugs have been changed regularly.

I have pulled the CPS to check the wires and they are fine. I put the old aperture disk (timing ring) from the worn harmonic balancer to the new one(saabsite) and made sure alignment was correct. The pulleys are a match with the drive cog.

I guess my next step will be to systematically check all critical fuses/relays, but not sure how to check relays.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to dish out $100 for a new CPS splice kit (or almost $300 for new setup) or to have my Indy come hook up his computer for about $50.

Am I missing anything here? Any help greatly appreciated!

I'd be glad to answer questions on the mechanical repair process, as that was tedious but pretty strait forward. Obviously though, not an expert on electricals.
