My guess is that with $2,782.98 of damage, the other insurance company will call your 15-year-old car a total loss and pay you some set value for it - which will certainly be less than $2782.98. If they do this, you might have the option of receiving their payout and of buying the car back from them for less than $300 - the law that controls this varies by state - if they come to this conclusion, you will need to ask them about this.
This happened to my car a few years ago, I bought the car back for $239 (scrap value) at the time. With the help of some new and used parts, I put it back together and have been driving it since. You need to decide how beautiful you would like your car to be, i.e. can you live with a scratched bumper cover, which probably contributed $700-800 to the estimated repair costs.
