started as a loud grinding sound with the speedo reading really high, ended with it sitting pegged and then giving up all together.
It now sits permanently at 35 MPH.
If I could have I would have disconnected the cable, but I was on the way to work and couldn't do much other than cringe.
This has been a highly intermittent problem until recently ... it really seemed to show up in the cold temps.
Is this a common failure? Anything I can do to fix it?
Probabally not, but figured I'd ask..
so I'm in need of a used one and I'm not sure which ones I can use...
P/N 95 04 721 is for an ’86 9000 5-speed
P/N 95 21 097 is for an ’86 9000 automatic
Mine is a 5 spd... but will the auto gauge work?? Or is it set up differently for different trans gearing?
thanks all,
Matt
