In the minds of many on this board, the 9K is the best Saab ever made, and some say the "last real Saab" before GM got involved. They are great. Many of us here have more than one. I have a '96 CSE 5 speed and a '95 CS auto that my daughter uses.
There are a few things to know about with a 9K and stuff to watch out for, but if you get a well-maintained car it will run a long while and not really be any more expensive than other upscale European cars the same age. You do get a lot for the money.
Go to Quasimotors.com for a rundown on what to look for. Quasi is down on auto trannies, but they are not necessarily a bad thing. Don't worry as long as the one in the car you're looking at shifts well. You will probably feel the shifts, both up and down--you should feel that they are happening but not much more than notice them. The one in my '95 has had minimal service and it works fine.
Have an indy Saab tech go through the car before you pull the trigger and tell you what it needs and how you should schedule the work. If you buy, have all the fluids changed as soon as you buy it. If you bring it into good shape right away you'll have a good car. 117K on a 9K is no biggie, so don't sweat the miles. Most here have that and more.
Keep us posted and if you buy it, we're all here to help!
