Ok, I think I found out right away that my first problem is the ground wire going to the fan. When I grounded the black wire elsewhere, the fan came on. So I don't know what to do next... I am thinking of just plugging the ground wire into the ground port of the outdoor air sensor and buttoning everything up.
If I did this, I would have blasting heat coming out of the defrost vent that is controlled by the insertion and removal of a fuse. Better than nothing huh? If anyone has better advise, I would love to hear it, but any heat and/ort defog capabilities will be great-- its an '88.
Here are some misc. ramblings:
* When the fan was grounded elsewhere, nothing responded to the acc unit. The only think I heard was a green relay in the dash clicking as if it was shorted out.
* The flap arm motor did move when the diag was run, but no air came through other vents.
* The motor that expands and retracts the flap arm spring was loose, meaning that it brought the arm back past the restricted stop- maybe why the last flap arm broke.
Does anyone see an obvious problem that fixes it all in one shot? Could the lack of respnse be due to the fan speed controller? Is it a wiring problem coming from the unit to the blower motor? Should I just suck it up and go with my duck tape fuse controlled defog heat system???
