though you may have trouble getting the old components off, and the benefit will depend on how good the components are. The Sachs dampers are pretty long-lived anyway but obviously newer is better. Best to try and find a manual car as donor for a manual, but on my automatic car I have manual Aero-spec front springs with no problems. The Aero springs lower the car a bit, perhaps 1 cm or less than half an inch.

Some Aero struts are claimed to be thicker but I've never got to the bottom of that and it doesn't matter anyway for what you're doing. I'm pretty sure the anti-roll bars are exactly the same at 19mm thick, but once again some people claim to have found 18mm bars on the CS (they were used on the old-shape cars). I have an idea US-spec cars will all have had 19mm but you can check very easily with a micrometer.

Personally feel the Aero suspension is a nice compromise between the standard set-up and the rock-hard lowered/stiffened alternatives. It will make sense to replace bushes throughout, probably using poly rather than rubber for the control arms and the rear anti-roll bar.

As you know you can buy all this stuff new as the "Road Handling Kit" and that will certainly cheer up a twelve-year-old car!

If desired you can take the opportunity to stiffen things up more by fitting 25mm anti-roll bars (SAS) but these will harden your ride on anything but smooth roads. Opinions vary on whether stiffer bars are a worthwhile improvement.

Final obvious but very important thing is to make sure you fit at least 16" wheels, with good tyres! 195/65-15" won't cut it in this company.
