Brand new scantech master cylinder defective? Posted by Chadwick [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Hello everyone,
I have a 1991 9000T with 320k on the clock. I have a brand new transmission from Saab USA that came with a brand new slave installed about 10k ago. Recently my clutch started dragging so I replaced the master with a scantech unit, the previous was lockheed. I was driving my aero and let the car set for a few weeks but jumped into it today after doing the serp belt and tensioner pulleys. I started pulling out of the driveway and when I went to shift from 1st to 2nd the clutch dropped to the floor and stayed there.
I still have my old lockeed master cylinder, I took it apart today and cleaned it up hoping to rebuild it to install into my 91. However, when i removed the clipring and pulled out the shaft a lot of black crud dumped out. I don't think it's line related, my clutch line is brand new. Any thoughts?
Also, is the scantech unit known to be defective?
I've noticed 0 fluid loss, so I'm quick to rule out slave cylinder. Also, the pedal has 0 pressure at all, as if the master cylinder shaft wasn't even connected...
Just wonder if anyone can relate!
TIA~
Chad
