My 89s has 253k and was converted to manual at some time before I bought it at 189k. I had to replace a totally trashed stub shaft bearing. I replaced all the bearings and seals on my 88T at 157k when I did the clutch, just as a preventative measure. I didn't find anything that awful when I opened it up so I very well may have wasted time and money. Both shift fine but have a little whine from time to time.
