95 CS-strange fuel problem

About a month ago my 95 CS stopped running like it had run out of fuel. A local (non Saab) garage replaced the fuel pump and the car ran, but had a funky idle...sometimes it would stall during a cold idle, and sometimes it had a surgy/revvy idle.
Yesterday, it stopped running litterly in the same spot as last time just like it was out of fuel. The gauge and sensor showed about 1/8 of a tank/80 miles left. The local garage said it was low on fuel and that there is large dent on the bottom of the tank, and that that coupled with a new fuel pump has changed the capacity of the tank.
Anyone have any thoughts???
