I had Abbott = Powerflex bushes on both bars of my old CSE, and the front ones groaned like a cow when going over things like speed bumps, but not in normal driving. They came with grease and I'm sure Kenny used it when fitting.

With my full-house Abbott suspension I found the front much too hard (opposite of you) and put the Konis on a quarter-turn from the softest setting. The rears were also too stiff too as they came from Abbott, but I called Giles and he said adjusting the rears wouldn't make much difference - reading between the lines I think the springs were overpowering everything else, front and rear, so you're better off with softer springs where the dampers can do their job. I just changed the tyres to F1s and ended up with a ride/handling compromise I could live with but didn't want to repeat when I replaced the car.

Back to the bars, I'm one of the people Noel mentioned who like to fit rubber at the front and poly at the rear. That's with the Road Handling Kit = Sports Chassis = Aero suspension on my present Anniversary. But with the Abbott suspension on the old car, ie. low and stiff, I found poly on the front bar was great. I wish it wasn't such a wrestle to do the front anti-roll bar bushes, otherwise I'd experiment with both.

Poly control arm bushes are a very worthwhile improvement. On the old car once again, they got rid of tramlining (tyres were P6000, not brilliant in that respect) and generally felt much better. No groans. Steering much improved. Car had perhaps 85k when I put them on - you probably have 200k plus on your present bushes, eh?
