Hi,
Had same problem a year ago. My car would idle normal (around 900 rpm) at startup. Then when accelerating, at any moment, the engine would be idle at around 500 rpm but never dies. My AC compressor would also stop during this period (only blows air). But whenever I re-start the engine, it would come to normal, as if nothing happened. Also, I noticed that the PO used a tie wrap on the Trottle Position Sensor (TPS)connector. With the BB's help, pointed the problem to be the TPS, I removed the connector. And there was the culprit. The TPS connector was badly corroded. Probably, previous mechanic lost the connector lock and put tie wrap instead, causing loose connections. I cleaned it up and replaced the connector lock ( from salvage yard). It is running fine since...hope this helps.
