My car got into this mode some months ago. I suspected fuel pressure also. Now I have a moaning pump noise with increasing regularity (obvious impending failure) and the car has almost stalled out at the bottom of the gas tank. I have diagnosed the low tank stalling as a fuel feed pump problem which I will replace today hopefully. I will then see if that also cures the moaning as the feed pump feeds the main pump which may be making starving noises. It is quite easy to take the fuel pump access cover off and inspect. The fuel tank level device is easily removed and inspected also. Be sure to remove pump relay fuse, depressurize the system and work in a well-ventilated spot. By the way, I read in the LH-Jetronic write up in Haynes that in a cold engine condition the fuel injectors open twice per engine cycle instead of once when warm. This may account for good cold starts, while longer warm starts need more fuel build up.
