Here's the scenario. I finished school today at 5:15, drove to my girlfriend's, house and parked in her driveway, no problems at all. Ten minutes later she and I jumped back in my car to meet some friends for dinner and it will crank (turn over) but the motor won't catch. A few environmental variables to note: It has been snowing/icing here (Lawrence, KS) for about 24 hours (not a ton of snow, 4-6 inches) and the car has been parked outside for the durations, it is also about 20-25 degrees out. The car was parked in her driveway (on a hill, nose up) with about 3 gallons of fuel in the tank). After trying to crank for a while, the engine compartment smelled vaguely like melting plastic (please tell me this isn't fatal!)
The car is a 97 9000CS with 137,000 miles and it has never done anything like this before. I'm extremely confused about this and would love any guidance.
Thanks
Alex S.
