I just ran a few more tests. It's nice and cold out so detonation is unlikely. I am running a ball and spring type MBC for the time being, spliced in to the normal wastegate signal line. I had the MBC set for 12psi or so, but boost was creeping up on long pulls and I'd hit the overboost protection right about when the boost gauge was touching 15psi. I lowered it to 10psi and have not spiked or crept up over 11 or 12psi now and I am not hitting overboost cutout. If I decide running more boost is worth it I might add some knock protection but that is a concern for warmer weather. I'm just surprised that the overboost seems to not be set at standard CS levels. Also a bit surprised that the ECU does not seem to use absolute pressure, but my gauge might not be accurate enough to determine that for sure.
