Thanks SwedeCar! You TSB is exactly what I needed to show to the dealer.
I went back this morning and showed them the TSB from SwedeCar. They found it very interesting and could not find it in their computer system. The said that they've had many customers come in with Internet printouts that explain such-and-such, and I understand their position that the TSB I handed them might not be an *official* TSB. Still, I relented and they agreed to swap the Black for a Red, and I agreed to pay the difference. They also replaced the stupid bolt with a black torx head bolt.
They said they were told by corporate to use the Black DIs on all 9000s (even 94-98 Turbos like mine), and that from the customer standpoint, the Black DI is much cheaper, works (99% the same...at least at first), and this makes the customer happy.
The oil turned out to be Full synth, after an explanation.
I'm happy that I have a Red DI in my car now, but nonplussed at the overall level of service received. My previous cars were a Ford and VW, and I thought Saab service would be just a notch or two above these marques.
Thank you all for your help during my stressful 36 hours!
