Adam,

Thanks for the feedback ! I wasn't sure about the HK speaker, mainly because it has 2 input plugs vs. just the one on the stock speaker from my 94 Aero... I've owned others cars with Bose speakers that have the amp built into the speaker, so I was thinking maybe the 2nd input was to power an amp in the HK speaker (although that's probably not the case here).

I may be interested in your speaker - I'm going to try switching out the amp first, though... someone else on saabnet suggested it may be the amp, and I tracked down an inexpensive one on EBay (I think there's another one on there for sale now, just in case you're looking for another one). So, I'll try that to see if it does the trick. If that doesn't work, I'm guessing it may be the head unit. I'm leaning towards the head unit as the source of the buzzing/popping problem, since there is no problem when I use the CD player ! I suspect that the amp is going bad (causing the issues with the 'blown' rear speaker) and that there is some sort of problem with the head unit, too (causing the popping)!

On the bright side, I fixed a different problem yesterday -- the passenger side power seat would not move when the engine was running and the doors were closed (but would work when the ignition was off and the door open). I read on saabnet about the relays under the passenger seat, and it turned out that one of the relays was bad (the one on the inboard side) -- I replaced the relay and now the seat works as it should... a cheap, quick fix ! (wish they all were that way)

Regards,
Steve
