and isn't really a guide to anything. You could try measuring the resistance between poles 1-2 and 2-3 of the BPV. Look for 2 to 3 ohms maximum.
Maybe you could hook up a boost gauge to find out what is really happening? Ideally you'd fit a full-turbo dash assembly to provide this feature, or mount one in place of the clock.
The automatic with 200bhp is seriously fast (I have one) so you certainly should see a difference. You get 13% more torque and 18% more bhp, with 0-60 cut by almost a second.
Although people swear by (or perhaps at) manual boost controls the Trionic system is there to protect your engine and maximise its potential, so it makes sense to use it and make it work properly, rather than declare UDI and junk the protection in favour of a MBC.
You are not jeopardising anything apart from perhaps the auto gearbox by running as a FPT, any more than I am by running my car without removing the BPC and statying at base boost. These engines are immensely tough, so no problem there, and the auto FPT's torque output is kept conservative by Saab to protect the auto tranny. It makes sense to avoid full-throttle upshifts most of the time (don't want to be a spoil-sport) but actually, IMHO if your 'box is going to break it's probably just going to break.
