Ever had a DI cassette fail like this ? Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Hi All.
My '91 9KT has been very pleasant in almost all ways lately until I
went to drive across town yesterday in the early morning...
(Please bear in mind here that I have also had some strange issues
with fuel tank venting that have made the car stop suddenly once
or twice as well.)
I had let the engine warm for a couple of minutes, and as I got on
the main road it gave a buck and the engine quit; coasted a short
way into the lot across the street and tried re-starting - cranked
fine but no start.
Waited a few minutes and tried again - a short star and a sound like
a backfire, then nothing.
I walked across town and left the car for about 4 hours until a
friend woke up and came to get me - and I remembered to check the
fuel tank for a vacuum, which there was and I released it.
The engine then started immediately and ran for about 5 minutes and
stopped silently, and did not start again.
Not having any parts with me (20 miles from home) I arranged to have
it towed to my Indy's place and when we spoke later he said it was
NOT the fuel pump or system as I'd feared, but the DIC...
I have never even heard of one quitting and then coming back for a
few minutes at a time before - has anyone here experienced this ?
Best Wishes,
mark
