it could also be the photoresistor in the clock. there's 3 bulbs in the EDU, unless it's been getting dim for a while i doubt they all went at the same time.
mine often is dim until the car warms up. it may be just a cold solder joint inside the SCC.
is yours an analog clock or is it the fancier digital one?
if you do need bulbs, they are the same as the instrument cluster bulbs on an early-ish Volvo 240. keep that in mind next time you're at a junkyard.
