I've had problems with my read doors not opening when i pull the handles... and it doesn't matter wether they're pulled from the outside or the inside either...
at first i thought the child safety lock was the culprit, but you can't get at the switch unless the door is open anyways... so i knew i had to take it apart.
removing the interior door panel was a PIA without being able to open the door, but it is possible FYI, anyways...
I guess the metal-mechanical door lock mechanism that actually opens and closes the pin that latches the door shut was a little corroded, and the ammount of tension it required to un-latch was higher than originally designed...
I found that if i pulled extremely hard on the rod that went to the latch mechanism, it would open!
So i sprayed the latch mechanism dripping wet with PB blaster (lube) and then i worked it many many times with the pull rod...
Then i BENT THE ROD right in the middle... to DECREASE the length of the rod... so... now when you pull the handle, it applies MORE force to the latch, because the rod has less travel now...this is the main solution here to the problem... just bending the rod slightly...
this fix has worked on both of my 9000's on each of the rear doors, and on a friends 9000...
mind you these are older 9000's, pre 91... so i'm not sure if they changed the system in later years.
Just my input on door handles... the fronts may be a different animal, but i never had a problem in the front.
